I saw this a few days ago but I don't blame Boras. He's by far the best agent in professional sports, he gets every single one of his clients way more than they deserve. I dunno if he'll be able to get a scrub like 'Tek this much money, but I wouldn't be surprised if a GM was stupid enough to give in to the "he brings grit and championship experience!" crap.

Intangibles is a word given to average players to make them seem better (think Jeter). Varitek is absolutely no help to your pitching staff (coming into this year Red Sox pitchers had a higher ERA with him behind the plate) and he didn't have an off year at the plate, he's in decline.
