This really isn't a story, cause I can't write stories, I'm just bored so I thought I would talk about my players. I guess.
First of all, picked SS Felipe Lopez up through the Rule 5 draft and look at the start to his career at 21:
Through 12 games he is batting .309 (17 for 55) with 2 HR, 5 RBI, 3 SB, 7 runs and a .333 on base %. Not too bad.
Then CF Alex Sanchez is FIFTH in the majors in batting average at .361. I barely expected him to bat continue his .300 from last season so he has gone well above expectations this season. He also has 18 stolen bases, which is tied for 2nd in the majors. Not bad, now if he could improve his poor fielding skills then I'd be happy.
Free agent signing OF Adrian Brown is batting .300 (45 for 115) with a .371 on base % and 33 runs scored. When I signed him, I was expecting him to mostly just come off the bench to play, but now he is on the bench again, at least vs RHP with Mel Stocker quickly becoming a regular.
Mel Stocker ... I didn't expect him to become a regular but then he quickly jumped in and is now batting .298 (17 for 57) with 12 RBI in 17 games. He also has a .397 on base %.
Then my other pickup through the rule 5 draft, C Bengie Molina has been a huge upgrade over my catching from last year. He is batting .272 with 6 HR and 21 RBI. He is also tied for the major league lead in runners thrown out (12) and the % thrown out (48%).
The whole team together currently has the 3rd best batting average in the majors at .290, which is very surprising considering I don't have any "superstars" on my current roster.
25-23 and sitting only 6.5 games out of the central, 5 out of the wildcard, is a nice surprise, I thought at this time I would be more like 13-35.
