There has been a lot of great competition in this league so far this season. But Alex Rodriguez wouldn't know it. He is in a league all to his own this season. As a matter of fact, if there were another league higher then this...he'd be ready for a call up. A-Rod leads the majors in both homeruns and RBI. It's safe to say that barring injury no one will catch him in RBI as he is sixteen ahead of the second place Tejada, twenty five over the third place Edmonds and to compare him to the leader in the AL, A-Rod has forty one more RBI then Jenkins and Juan Gonzalez. The scary part is Rodriguez is still only 25 years old.
This sim was a short one as we have to take a break for last minute trades here at the deadline. Not much has changed. In the NL West San Francisco has been able to keep the hot streak going and have pulled away with an 8.5 game lead over Colorado. The AL West is still tight as ever with Anaheim and Seattle tied on top and Texas now just 1.5 games back. The Twins continue to inch up toward the Indians with some added help to the rotation. They now sit just 2.5 games back. The Blue Jays and Cardinals are starting to book playoff plans. Pittsburgh and Atlanta are still too close to call. On the other side of the spectrum, the Detroit Tigers are on pace to have the worst record since the 1899 Cleveland Spider(Who?)
After the trade deadline things will speed up a lot. The next 3 sims will be a full 2 weeks and by this time next week we'll be at September 10th. Then we'll slow it down a bit the final 3 weeks so teams can make adjustments to their rosters more often during the most important stretch of games. I've been working on a list of topics for the GM Meetings that will take place during our September Sims. It's not to late to head over to League Talk and give your "suggestions for next season". So far on the ballot is Free Agent Compensation Rules, Position Changes, File Hosting, Adjusting of HOF Career Sliders, Revenue Sharing, and another secret one which I will be very interested in the results for.
Good Luck the rest of the way. ;D
