It wouldn't be the Cy Young Baseball League without a mid summer run by the Atlanta Braves. Unlike the old league this is legit. Winners of 7 out of the last 10 games the Bravos are poised to make a run at the NL East title. Currently they sit one half game behind the front running Marlins. Just like the old league it's been Chipper Jones leading the rallies with a .340 avg and 10 dingers. It's been a very strange year in that division. The Marlins have the best record and lowest payroll, the Phillies seem to have the most talented team on paper but don't want to win, and the Braves have to be wondering what this year might have been if they still had Greg Maddux.
In the NL Central the Pirates have gone on a tear. 9-1 in last ten, 16-4 in last twenty. Of course they still have a ways to go to catch the Cards but they are charging hard. Miguel Tejada is looking to be an MVP candidate in the NL. .377 with 18 hr in a little over a third of a season. Pretty good numbers for a player his age(whatever that may be). If the Pirates can somehow get their star studded rotation of Schmidt/Cone/Neagle to play up to par then they should be a serious threat to the wild card.
In the AL it's the Texas Rangers once again making a push in the two team race that is the AL West. Both them and the Mariners are tied with a .607 winning percentage. This race may not be a race after all. It's quit possible that the loser of the division could still run away with the wild card . Toronto and Cleveland are your other 2 AL Leaders.
It's been a tough year so far for the Houston Astros. I would have thought they were much better then a 26-31 team. But one Astro has been a shinning star and one to keep an eye on. Joe Randa is a 79 rated infielder who happens to be leading the majors with a .407 avg. It's definitely worth keeping an eye on him to see how long he can keep up that pace. Well that just about wraps up another sim. This one was a little short due to the draft being in the middle of our 2 weeks. But still plenty of action packed games going down.
