Cubs get: LF Sheffield, Gary 89 89 $3,400,000 2 31 No SP Sabathia, C.C. 84 93 $8,200 Arb '03 19 No C Martinez, Victor 77 87 $207,000 Arb '03 21 No SP Westbrook, Jake 75 87 $8,200 Arb '03 22 No SP Wright, Jaret 75 75 $100,000 Arb '01 24 No
Tribe sacrifices some future (CC, V-Mart) for now (Sosa, Astacio, Lieber) to bolster sagging pitching staff. Diaz will suffice as a 9 hitter and good handling C, and we love the lefty Hill for the future. Wright and Kelton are throw-ins, filling positional needs.
We are now looking for a long-term catcher, if anyone is shopping one.

I agree I'm out of it, so I'm rebuilding somewhat, this starts the process... and I gain Jaret Wright who is my long reliever now, so I have a rotation in tact, youthful but in tact.
