When the Texas Rangers got swept during the first series of the season, things were not looking good. But now 25 games and 15 wins later there seems to be a sigh of relief after mortgaging the future for high priced hurlers Curt Schilling and Roger Clemans. While Schilling has lived up to the hype posting a 4-1 record with a 1.85 era, Clemans has been a little sloppy despite his 3-0 record. All and all the Rangers have allowed fewer runs then any other team in the AL. The offense, while not feature any big named stars, have produced a balanced attack that has been good enough. In fact, 8 of the 9 regulars are batting .297 or better. Rusty Greer highlights the lineup with his .330 avg with 9 hr and has a supporting cast of David Segui(.346, 6hr) and igniter Chuck Knoblauch(.333 10 sb).
Elsewhere Jim Thome has cleaned up the homerun image by passing up both juicers to take the HR lead, Dave Roberts is tied for the stolen base lead with Juan Pierre. Bartolo Colon and The Gambler Kenny Rogers are tied with 5 wins to top MLB.
Other hot teams around the league are Cleveland and St. Louis who continue to represent the midwest proudly. There seems to be an odd trend of large market teams struggling as all 6 teams in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago are under .500. Shows good parity in the league.
Update on the sim schedule. Thanks to Texas(I'm sure this is going to spark conspiracy theories as he had a good sim) offering to input the lineups this coming Saturday, there will be an additional sim this week. So the sim schedule for the next week is Saturday, Monday, Thursday. Be sure to get your lineups in before 11:59 Friday night. The sim itself may not be till sometime Saturday night. Good luck to all.
