Phillip Boyd, Owner of the Pittsburgh Pirates announced today that he was firing manager Gene Lamont. Lamont had been manager of the team since 1997. When asked to comment Lamont had this to say:He then drove off into the sunset. In another stunning move Boyd brought in All-Time Pirate Favorite and Hall of Famer Second Baseman Bill Mazeroski. Mazeroski played all 17 of his seasons with the Pirates, is the only player to hit a walk-off home run to win a World Series, doing it in 1960, and was a piece of two of their championship teams in 1960 and 1971. He then retired in 1972. Mazeroski, now 63 years old, was gleaming from ear to ear had this to say:
