The Rangers made some moves going into the 2000 season hoping that they will be considered a contender this year in the AL West. They traded some highly sought after prospects in Teixeria, Botts, Dushscherer, and Chris Young to the Yankees for ace Roger Clemens and All Star 2B Knoblauch. Then trade another top prospect in Hafner to Houston for Shane Reynolds and Closer Billy Wagner. The Rangers management feels they have put together a much better team then we had in 1999 and can't wait to get the season under way. We have a star studded lineup with Knoblauch, Rodriguez, Plamerio, Greer, and Rookie Michael Young making his major league debut at short stop.

The Rangers GM is extremely please at the way the 1st month of the season has started despite injuries to some key players, such as 1B Palmeiro. Palmeiro has been sent to AAA to play a few rehab games before he rejoins the team in the middle part of May. May is going to really test us with the injury to Knoblauch or key lead off hitter that had started the season off hot. We also lost Cattalanotto that was doing a great job hitting 2nd as a DH. We're going to see if some of our young bench player like Scarborough Green and Kelly Dransfedlt can step in in play solid ball while these guys are out. Roger Clemens got his 250th win of his career on April 27,2000 pitching against Angels going 6.1 innings giving up 2 runs and striking out 6. Kenny Rogers and Curt Schilling have pitch extremely well for the month of April and we look forward to their continued dominance in May.
