Trades must be posted in the Trades Board and are subject to approvals. In order for a trade to be approved it must be accepted by both parties and approved by 3 trade mods. Here are some rules and what the trade mods are looking for.......
Trading Cash
Not allowed. The only exception is to "even out the salaries". ex) I trade a player making 8 million to you for a guy making 2 mil. I'm allowed to give you up to 6 million(assuming players are of equal skill) which would be the same as having the player being paid by 2 different teams. Keep in mind that after the all star break each player will be considered to be making half of their yearly salary. In that same scenario I could only give you 3 million.
Salary Dumps
Salary dumps are allowed....within reason. I'm setting a soft limit of $75 million. If the difference in the contracts(lifespan) is more then $75 million then it's most likely going to get rejected. But exceptions could be made depending on circumstance.
Trading Recently Drafted Players
Not allowed. I want to keep it just like MLB in this aspect. I know there are a lot of trigger happy gm's that will burn the farm for a pennant. But then if they quit the league the next guy is screwed. So your not allowed to trade drafted players until draft day of next year. I mean that too, it's not even allowed as a player to be named or anything. Those 7 guys you draft are yours for one year.
Trading Recently Signed Players
Any newly signed free agent is not allowed to be traded until after the all star game. This is to prevent teams from getting every free agent on the market and trading them for prospects. This goes for players that were signed November 1st through the ASG. But if you have a guy that you resigned(played previous season with you), then you can trade him and it's ok.
Trading for Friends
I understand some of you know the way the game is written and know some tricks. Like if a player has a no trade clause he will waive it if you have his friends on your team. Well that's fine, but we're not going to twist things around just for that. If you want to do one of these 2 part trades they are subject to rules also.
First off, every trade is in it's own thread and the second can't be pending until the first is finalized. If the second deal gets rejected then that's too bad, you're stuck with the friend anyway. Even if the second deal is approved there are no trade backs of the friend.
Everything else should be fair game. Anyone caught intentionally trying to break these rules are subject to a fine.
