STL gets:
Piazza, Mike C 33 94 94 5 mil till 2002
NYM gets:
Teut, Nate SP 25 71 83 $11,900 for 2 yrs Arb '04 Narveson, Chris SP 19 75 93 $16,900 for 2 yrs Arb '04 Dove, Dennis RP 20 73 87 $11,900 for 2 yrs Arb '04 Marrero, Eli C 27 83 90 630k till 2003
I accept, I do give up a lot but Teut and Dove are useless to me. Marrero is solid, but his vitals aren't too great. I really hate to give up Narveson, he's a stud, but this was the only way... in return I get maybe the best catcher in the game that seems to have a lot left.

Agreed
I really like Narveson. Marrero will make a solid catcher and Dove and Tuet give me young depth.

I don't really like this deal for the Mets. lol. Anyway, I pushed it down to 4 mil since I forgot that we're only allowed to even out salaries and not pay for a year, but other than that, I'm surprised that people don't think I'm giving up too much for a 33 year old catcher that wants 7.6 mil to resign next year. I thought this one might get rejected because I'M giving up too much.

33 could still be considered prime, granted towards the end of it. Piazza is a top 3 catcher (up there with Jorge Posada and Ivan Rodriguez) and he may be the best hitting catcher of All-Time. It warrants a close inspection.
