Round 3 picks 11-20 are due this evening. Anyone in the third segment that is willing to submit picks is more than welcome. I will post as many of the picks beyond 20 that I get. Also, send your preferences for rounds 4-6. That will be fast pick assigned so we can wrap this up for the commish and keep the season moving.

second segment of the third round for the 2002 draft is updated. I need picks for the teams between 21-30 tonight. ALSO, the remainder of the draft will be run out tonight. If you have any preferences for players or positions for rounds 4-6, they are due today. The draft must be complete to stay on pace for a Friday sim.
News and Notes: As most of you know, Dolittle has posted his intentions to retire. I hope this galvanizes the league and opens some eyes to the fact that league balance is a delicate flower. Treat it with respect, and reap the reward of enjpyment.
We have some fantastic races developing. In the AL east, Toronto has a nice 4 or 5 game cushion at the moment, but the entire division is still in the thick of the hunt. Call me crazy, but the way the Orioles flash the leather, I think they have a move or two in them. The AL West is a two team race. The Angels got out of the gates smokin hot, but the Texas Rangers have reeled them in and now only trail by 3 games. The AL Central is the tightest of races in the Junior circuit at the moment. The Indians are sporting a 1 game lead over the Kansas City Royals and 3.5 over the explosive Chicago White Sox. The Indians are definately an attractive team for a future GM. The Twins have resigned to reloading, but with a deep talent pool, it could be as early as next year. Over in the National League you have the Wild Card race and thats about it. The Dodgers and Braves sport very comfortable leads at the moment and the Cardinals are mounting a season of historical significance. We could be witnessing a 120 win team here that scores over 1,000 runs, incredible. The Gm-less Florida Marlins lead the WC currently but many many teams are in this chase. Philly, Montreal, Pitt, Cubs, Astros, Reds, and the Giants all have the talent to make a push. Early Cy Young candidates have appeared in the form of Brandon Webb in the AL leading the league in ERA and Wins while over in the National League, Pedro Martinez leads the majors in Wins and is second in ERA. Right in the conversation is Andy Petitte sporting the best ERA in the majors and second in the NL in wins. With that offensive backing, there is no reason to think he can't win 20+ games. The MVP races are wide open. The AL has Juan Gonzalez leading the charge in Home Runs but Carlos Lee has got scorching hot. It may come down to which team wins their division. The NL has a host of excellent seasons happening. Can it be a two man race between teammates Miguel Tejada and Mike Piazza? Incredible talent lurks on that team. The season is 1/3 of the way over, and we know no more today than we did to start the season.

Nice job KC, one of the things I appreciate most about these leagues is the articles that people put effort into. Really makes it fun to read.

The third round is complete. This draft, more so than last year has had more requests to pick highest peak no RP up to this point. Quite a few RP's have disappeared but the remaining draft is dominated by RP's. I think it is prudent to just let the computer sim the remaining 4th thru 6th rounds and you get what you get. None of the remaining players can help anyone out and this will eliminate needless data input for someone that might pitch 60 innings at the major league in 6 years. As of near deadline for requests I have no real requests for draft preferences for rounds 4 through 6. We will begin with the data entry for the draft so we can remain on pace for sim tomorrow night. I thank those of you that participated and left detailed PM's to make this draft rather painless. It is a lot more time consuming than I imagined.
